Opanak

This is Vlachian dance from Eastern Serbia. It depicts a myth from Vlachian folklore about a woman who is possessed by deamons and superstituous acts performed by villagers to free her of evil spirits.  Typical characteristics of Vlachian dances are powerful stomping, bouncing, twisting, and short loud shouts which are acts believed to scare off ghosts and demons as it is depicted in its dance
