BEATRIX

Austria

2021, 1h 35m, Austria
Directors: Milena Czernovsky, Lilith Kraxner
Cast: Marthe de Crouy-Chanel, Katharina Farnleitner, Eva Sommer
Genre: Drama
Canadian Premiere

Beatrix ends up spending the summer alone in a house. Unobserved for the first time, she begins to let go of societal expectations and allows herself to follow her impulses. She is confronted with herself, her intimacy but also her insecurities. We see Beatrix stumbling between boredom, amusement and loneliness accompanied by the unfolding drama of everyday situations. BEATRIX shows banal, somnambulistic acts such as eating, drinking, cleaning, jumping, bathing, reclining, talking, and looking. And then it begins all over again. Official Selection: Viennale – Vienna Int. Film Festival 2021 (Special Prize of the Jury), Copenhagen – CPH:PIX 2022.

All films at CEFF are presented in their original language with English subtitles.

Globe Cinema: Saturday, November 12 at 3:30 pm (Cinema 2)
Stream: Nov 5-13, 2022 across Canada
